Diet and Nutrition
|
A diet is simply the foods and drinks that a person consumes. There are several types of diets, including weight loss diets, weight gain diets, low sodium diets, the FDA suggested 2000 calorie diet, and several diets that meet specific health concerns. The nutrition gained from these diets consists of proteins, fats, carbohydrates, vitamins, minerals, and a few other dietary elements. Learning about each of these groups of nutritious substances and their value to the human body is the focus of this Web site.
We begin by focusing on the three major nutrition groups, proteins and amino acids, fats and oils, and carbohydrates. We then focus on the lesser nutrition groups including vitamins, minerals, botanicals, and herbs. Then we wrap up the study with an explanation of the roles that fiber and water play in our diet.
After reading through the material on this site, a person should understand the basics of diet and nutrition. The facts provided here will form the basis for a more in-depth look into nutrition studies. Throughout the site, we include several links to more advanced topics in diet and nutrition where you can further your knowledge.
