Botanicals and Herbals
Herbals and botanicals derive from different parts of plants. Both botanicals and herbs have been used as dietary supplements for hundreds of years. There is documentation all over the world of stories involving herbals and botanicals. Some have long been taken as well known cures for several ailments. There are herbs and botanicals that can provide anything from a mood lift, to a lowered risk of cancer. Some are placed into foods, such as turmeric or oregano. Other botanicals and herbs are consumed in pill form, or even possibly in an aromatic way.
Early within the growth of knowledge, people found many good uses for botanicals and herbs as the only form of medication. Years later, herbs and botanicals were sometimes used in cult-like rituals that lead many people to view the use of herbs and botanicals as a mystical and sometimes even a forbidden art. However, after many years of ignorance, scientists and doctors recognized the many benefits of certain herbals and botanicals.
Today there are many herbals and botanicals sold over the counter. When used correctly, certain herbs and botanicals can improve the quality of life in many ways. People use herbs and botanicals in various ways, and for several different purposes. Herbals and botanicals in pill form are not ordinarily reviewed by the FDA for approval. The lack of approval from the FDA makes choosing the right herbals and botanicals a somewhat dangerous decision. Remember that it is wise to consult with your physician when choosing the best herbal or botanical combination for your specific needs.
