Fiber

The FDA recommends that the average person should consume 25- 38 grams of fiber every day. However, the average amount of fiber a person typically gets on a daily basis is less than half that. Fiber is found in fruits, vegetables, flaxseed, whole grain breads, crackers, and beans.

The body needs a combination of many nutrients to function properly. The body simply needs fiber in order to help us feel full, while helping the digestive system work its course. There has been much talk about raised levels of fiber in a person’s diet. Raising fiber should be done wisely. In order to receive the great benefits of fiber, the body must also consume and adequate amount of water to keep the digestive system from binding up. Without an ample amount of water with the suggested fiber intake, it can cause stress on the body, and cramp up the stomach.

Any change in diet should be discussed thoroughly with a doctor before beginning the change.
