Water
Sixty to seventy percent of our body is made up of water. Adults must drink plenty of water daily to ensure proper body functions. It is recommended for adults to drink at minimum, 8 – 10 glasses of water a day. If a person is sweating, it is wise to drink more. Since most people do not drink enough water, their bodies a highly subject to dehydration. Water is considered an essential nutrient, and when our body sends a signal that we require more water, it would be wise to listen. Without the consumption of water, the body would stop working.
A good way to add more water into your diet to eat foods that are high in water. All foods have a varying percentage of water in it. However, some foods, such as watermelon and lettuce are good choices for helping attain the daily recommended amount of water. Most drinks are made up of mostly water. However, there are also some water mixtures, such at coffee or soda that work as a diuretic. If these types of beverages are drank daily, it is a good idea to raise water intake to make up for the loss of water that these drinks cause.
